Afforestation

The IMS team has training programs on deforestation where farmers are educated on how to provide shade for the cocoa trees without destroying the desirable ones needed to maintain the forest. The company also has a shade trees distribution program where farmers are given free shade trees seedlings every year since the beginning of the sustainability program. This is to ensure that the right amount of shade is provided

Waste Management

There is a model on this subject which trains farmers on how to manage waste on cocoa farms especially rubber wastes which are detrimental to the soil. Farm visits are occasionally carried out by field officers to ensure that proper sanitation is practiced by farmers under the program

Biodiversity/Water Management

Biodiversity/water management are all part of our model used to train farmers on how to conserve the biodiversity and manage water bodies that flows in or close to their farms. These are also a key to maintaining deforestation

Distribution of the Premium

Cash premium are distributed to farmers on yearly basis. Premium price per certified cocoa bag is announced to farmers either at farmer trainings at the community level or at premium ceremony where all certified farmers come to one point. At the end of the season farmers cash premium are paid to farmer by the IMS team together with the purchasing clerks and the district marketing officer. After payment, all documents are audited and filed for future references

How is Child-Labour Controlled

Internal Management System (IMS) team has training seasons on child Labour related issues with the certified farmers. Some farmers and purchasing clerks have been selected as child Labour liaison officers within each community where these liaisons monitor child labour related issues and report to IMS office.
